I find inspiration in anything and everything from architecture, to ironwork, to the ribbons wrapped around a bouquet of flowers, but it seems that Nature's motifs permeate my work more than most.
I think this comes from my early years growing up in South Africa and feeling a real closeness to my environment.
I have memories of Jacaranda trees leaving blankets of purple flowers behind as Spring turned to Summer, a childhood bathed in sunshine and carefree days spent running through the tall grasses along the river banks near our house.
For me, Africa is a spiritual place, somewhere where I feel connected to the world and the flora and fauna within it. It truly has the power to touch the soul and it's a feeling that has remained with me always.
Since returning to the United Kingdom, I have travelled widely and found inspiration in many other parts of the world, all of which have a breath-taking beauty of their own and as an artist, I feel immensely privileged to have had the opportunity to do so.
I have always been interested in Art, but the first time I remember actually registering that something had been designed, was when my mother took me to choose the fabric for some bespoke curtains to be made up for my bedroom. I was around 12 years old and finally decided on a fabric that had a cream background, with beautifully drawn flowers, given just a hint of watercolour, cascading down the length in stripes. They were exquisite and ultimately the inspiration for me to follow my dreams of becoming a Designer myself.
